Right Choices character development classes need you!!

Aslan children

One of the greatest ways we are able to reach children is through nondenominational Bible classes. We call them Right Choices classes because we’re trying with each and every breath to teach young people about right from wrong. Our society is muddled and mired in situational ethics that encourages each individual to “choose” what he or she wants to believe is right and wrong. "Right" is always “relative” in the world we live in.

Aslan unapologetically teaches that the Bible is God’s Word and the only standard by which anyone can have a basis to determine right from wrong. Rather than teach the kids about “religion,” however, our emphasis is on helping our children understand how they can have a personal relationship with Jesus. Every class centers on making the Holy Scriptures relevant to the problems our children face. It isn’t easy growing up in an urban area. Most of our children start with 3 strikes against them. By learning to understand God’s love for each of them, our children begin to value their own lives and the lives of others!

Weekly Times:

·Tuesday afternoons - Red Bank (ages 8 – 12)
·Tuesday & Thursday evenings - Red Bank (ages 13 – 18)
·Wednesday afternoons – Long Branch (ages 5 – 17)
·Thursday afternoons – Asbury Park (ages 5 – 13)

Time Commitment

Approximately 2 hours per week

Training

Again, Aslan provides all the training and materials that you need to teach a class of 6 – 8 boys and/or girls. Program Director, Lynn Ann Bogard along with support staff Leneita Fix and Queenie Stepney provide strong support and ongoing training and encouragement to our volunteer teachers. Because we are constantly adding new children to all of our classes, we are continually in need of more teachers and teacher’s aides!

To serve as a tutor and/or mentor call Claudia Ackerman. To serve as a teacher in our Right Choices Program or for other volunteer opportunities, please call Program Director, Lynn Ann Bogard. Sign up today and Make A Lasting Difference in the life of an Aslan child!
