Volunteer Opportunities

Are you looking for a way to use all your education and experience to help further the work of Aslan Youth Ministries? If you are, then we have a number of wonderful opportunities for you to become involved. Society as a whole and our inner cities specifically are besieged by problems. Ninety percent of our Aslan kids do not have a father in their lives. Most of their mothers are hard working individuals, but it’s hard to make ends meet and have energy left for your children. It’s extremely difficult to support yourself on a minimum wage (even living in the public housing projects), and it’s almost impossible to support 2 or 3 children as well! That’s why the programs of Aslan are so important. The mothers of our children know that when their kids are with Aslan they’re safe and they’re being loved. We aren’t just a latch-key program that throws a ball out for the kids to “kick around.”

Aslan’s volunteer force is critically important to our success. Each year over 300 talented individuals give of their many talents to enrich the work of Aslan and our children. These men and women serve as mentors, tutors, Right Choices Bible Class teachers, coaches, bicycling personnel, chaperones and on and on! Other volunteers serve in myriad ways, including: in our office (working on mailings, answering phones, entering data); helping with our Haiti Project; as Board members; on our Development Board; helping with special fund raising events (Island Nights, Vision Dinner & the Aslan Golf Classic); providing holiday parties for our youth; as special speakers at churches, organizations and businesses; and the list goes on and on!
