Aslan Newsletter of December 8, 1997

The wonderful Christmas season is a good time for reflection on God's blessings to Aslan in 1997.  These facts & figures only scratch the surface of the many living, breathing people whose lives are transformed every day through Aslan.

*  Seventy children (ages 7 - 14) received individual mentoring and tutoring.
*  Aslan provided over $3,000.00 in scholarship aid to 6 Aslan students in college.
*  One hundred twenty-five children (ages 6 - 18) were touched through our Red
Bank area and Long Branch youth classes.
*  Thirty-six children cycled in our annual "Cheesequake" and "Shore Challenge".
*  Sixteen Aslan youth & adults traveled to Haiti where they operated a day camp
for 150 Haitian children, ran a medical clinic, constructed a basketball court and
distributed over 1000 pairs of eye glasses.
*  Aslan established an Adult Basketball League, reaching 80 men (ages 19 - 40).
*  Through Aslan, over 75 young people were able to participate in summer camps.
*  At Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, Aslan provided 125 families with turkeys,
hams & food baskets.  Over 1000 gifts were distributed at Christmas.
*  Over 200 volunteers served as mentor/tutors, youth class teachers, office helpers,
food & clothing program helpers, legal assistants, board members, fund raisers,
cycling and field trip chaperones, and bus & van drivers.  And for all these wonderful
people we thank God each and every day!

We are thankful for all of you who give so generously to make the work of Aslan possible.  Our entire staff wishes you a blessed Christmas and a wonderful new year.

Most sincerely,
